Harvey Seifter and a small group of teaching artists brought a two-day Art of Science Learning "Advancing Innovation" Program to 80 faculty members at the School of Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch campus in Galveston. Participants told us that the workshops provided them with "tools for developing and refining ideas", helped them "enhance student learning through different approaches to teaching" and "created opportunities to engage and connect with colleagues in a more meaningful way."
Harvey spent a week in residency at Florida State University, hosted by the FSU College of Business and its Center for Human Resource Management. While there, he led a half-day workshop for local entrepreneurs, innovators and community leaders at the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship; a roundtable discussion at the FSU Innovation Hub; and spent a day at the National High Magnetic Lab. He also gave an interactive guest lecture about social innovation to MBA students titled "Thinking with Hands" (see above).
In a major new international collaboration between Art of Science Learning and Fiocruz (Instituto Oswaldo Cruz) Harvey Seifter and his colleague Todd Siler traveled to Rio de Janeiro to launch a new AOSL Incubator for Healthcare Innovation in June 2023. The 6 month pilot used arts-based experiential learning to help Fiocruz advance vital new innovations in public health and to strengthen the innovative skills of its cross disciplinary innovation teams. By early 2024, several innovations had already successfully gone to market, and in April 2024, the project won Brazil's prestigious 2024 Convergence Award for Innovation Learning.
